Our in school motorised LEGO® STEM workshops are fully aligned to the National Curriculum and can be adapted to what the children are currently learning in their Science or DT lessons.
For example, some of the topics that we have recently covered in schools are:
- Energy & Motion
- Environment
- Machines and Robots
- Forces like Centripetal and Centrifugal
- Transportation and Vehicles
We can cater for children from Year 1 to Year 8. The sessions are about 60 to 90 minutes each, depending on the age of the children and we can fit in one or two year groups on a day, subject to the number of forms in each year group.
We start with an introduction of the topic, say for example Angular Momentum. In this instance, we talk about motor bikes, its history and what causes a motor cycle to run without falling into the ground. Then each child in the session builds a battery operated LEGO motorcycle model using our custom kit and understands the concept. We can build over 50 different models covering a wide range of Physics and engineering concepts that are aligned with the national curriculum. Building a model and learning in a fun way, entices children to develop a good understanding of the concepts and enhance their knowledge.
We have successfully conducted our LEGO STEM workshops in various schools around Essex and the feedback has been great. We would like to spread the joy and make a lot more happy faces.
